Heston Blumenthal shot by David Ellis for The Times Magazine

Although Heston Blumenthal has become a little bit of a regular at The Worx, he is still one of the most talked-about figures every time he is here for a shoot. Whether it is his Waitrose selection or one of his restaurants’  cuisines people have tried, everyone will agree on one thing: he is a wizard in the kitchen!

This time, he was shot by the fabulous photographer David Ellis, in our Studio 1 – the perfect space for any sort of pyrotechnics as it is painted black, has no windows and is completely sound proof. The special effects were all done by Martin King – already a name in the moving and stills imagery world and the story was for The Times Magazine with an in-depth interview about Heston’s upcoming projects and collaborations, by writer Janice Turner.

The grooming was by Celine Noonan, who did a terrific job on combining the soot with the slick suit to give the shots that perfect contrast and edge.

All we knew of what was going on was when Heston headed for the shower covered in soot – we didn’t hear any of the explosions that were apparently going on!

It was a fun day and we really hope to welcome David, Heston and Co here again soon.
